This far gone, the hummingbirds aren't humming

We won't know that nectar for awhile

I sit back of the wind and do my vacant strumming

Singing small town gypsies, and southern hippies, sure could use a ready smile

This far back, my thoughts flicker like candles

The flame goes still and then the flame goes wild

But it's not something that the shadows and I cannot handle

Small town gypsies, and southern hippies, sure could use a ready smile

Say what you must and dream as you will

The world is a bust if you can't get still

After all the consequences pack up

And head north to slalom down some hill

I'm left here with the smell of the stew and the bubbles singing back up

Singing small town gypsies, and southern hippies, sure could use a ready smile
