EVEN MISERY

How’d you make it back here?
I didn’t think you could steer clear
You’ve got that hangdog look like you missed the boat
You don’t want to swim and you can’t seem to float
You keep singing that same sad note
Endlessly
You’d better wade from the shore
Go push on the exit door
‘Cause even misery doesn’t care for your company (repeat)

Why can’t you hold your tongue?
We don’t want to hear about how often you were stung
You’ve got the sense of humor of a bowling ball
Rolling towards us like you hope we’ll fall
Into the gutter where you seem to crawl
Endlessly
You’d better pick up and split
Go rehearse another skit
‘Cause even misery doesn’t care for your company (repeat)

Why don’t you give us a shock
Go and cash your chips in and get your soul out of hock

What possessed you to try
To turn your life into one long alibi?
You’d better learn to laugh at yourself
Like everybody does when you’re someplace else
Instead of dealing with the cards you’ve been dealt
Aimlessly
You’d better break out the pack
Stop squinting like a one-eyed jack
‘Cause even misery doesn’t care for your company (repeat)
